JOHANNESBURG – World Rabies Day is on Saturday and this year’s theme, ‘Breaking Boundaries’, encourages vaccination as the best form of prevention.

The potentially deadly viral disease can infect both humans and animals. It affects the brain and nervous system, and is spread in the saliva of animals.
Common symptoms to look out for if bitten by an infected animal include excessive salivation, paralysis, inability to swallow, convulsions and aggressiveness.
